At the end of the training, learners will:

  • Understand techniques for hazard identification

  • Be able to perform risk assessments for specific hazards

  • Be able to describe the importance of the hierarchy of control

  • Be able to describe ALARP

  • Be able to explain active and reactive risk control monitoring techniques

Incident Investigation

This training covers:

  • The need for workplace incidents to be reported and recorded

  • The importance of developing an accurate order of events

  • The importance of collecting and analysing information

At the end of the training, learners will:

  • Have the basic skills and knowledge to quickly identify contributing factors to low-level incidents and divide them into immediate and root causes using the 5 Whys

  • Understand the link between near misses, incidents and accidents

  • Be able to identify how accident reporting can be improved

  • Be able to effectively collect valid information from an accident scene, witnesses and other documented evidence

  • Understand the existence of bias and the impact it can have on the investigation process
